I am sorry that you are not feeling well. I recommend? that you see a competent addiction psychiatrist for your treatment. I hope that you start to feel better soon.

Thank you Dr, I’m’ ~10.5 months? out & am thinking I may need a medication b/c the anxiety, dizziness, fog, agoraphobia & panic attacks I have now are hard to live with. I went to a dr. 4 years w/ 2 isolated panic attacks and he prescribed xanax 3 times a day and I started having more panic attacks & symptoms then he added celexa and I was stable for a few years but when i got off everything I came down w/ serious anxiety. What would you recommend being 10.5 months off xanax&celexa for relief?

i meant phych drug? im sorry not anti im so sorry for my mistake examples abilify, saphris, seroquel, etc…

  • stuartklodamd says:

Never a problem to answer questions.
Please clarify what you mean by “anti-psych drug class”.
Also, there are a number? of different drugs used as mood stabilizers,
so it is difficult to answer that question.

  • ANT1714 says:

stuart whats the longest half life of the anti-phych drug? class and the mood stabalizer class if you dont mind me asking

  • ANT1714 says:

wow had a feeling something was fishy? thank you i have a question heather ashton warns patients about addiction specialests saying they will quickley replace one drug for another like nuerontin a mood stabalizer thats gaba a pentin and they will say ya its slowley createing another addicction cause thats a phych drug and then maybe give the patient a seizure drug example topamax which will create seizures long term usage and another drug do you do things like that or no

Soma is actually a GABA-A agonist.
However, I would never use it to treat benzo withdrawal.
Soma is a sedating drug? that is abusable and addictive.

  • ANT1714 says:

i was told by a? doctor that soma helps thru benzo wd doesent soma target gaba b am i being lied to ?

  • sidka84 says:

can i? ask you something?which addiction is worst in your opinion, amphetamines addiction or benzo addiction?

  • stuartklodamd says:

Benzo withdrawal? has a seizure risk.
    Tramadol lowers the seizure threshold.
So, the two together would be contraindicated.

  • sidka84 says:

i found tramadol helps with benzo wd very well.what is your opinion Doc?it s a weak synthetic opioid and? weak SNRi maybe these facts contibute

  • sidka84 says:

yes also some benzos have bad reputation as date rape drugs.i know in your country flunitrazepam (Rohypnol) has this reputation.but i used Rohypnol in past and it was bit better than z-drugs .but they took it from the market so…we have generic baclofen but it s not used here for benzo detox or for anxiety.sadly.could be anticonvulsants such as valproic acid ,topiramate, lamotrigine or carbamazepine used for benzo detox?personally i would vote for meprobamate but you said no.?

  • Stuart Kloda says:

Baclofen is a muscle relaxant that acts as a GABA-B agonist. It is really helpful for? some patients with withdrawal anxiety. Baclofen is short acting, so it is dosed about every eight hours. GHB does decrease anxiety. However, it is highly abusable, is used as a date rape drug, and is easy to overdose on, especially when combined with alcohol.

  • sidka84 says:

GABA-B agonist r unknown even for many medical doctors (except psychiatrists) ,you think GHB would help with benzo wd?or with anxiety?that s funny,GHB is on Schedule I but? Xyrem (legal GHB) is on Schedule III in the U.S.we don t have it here.so i don t know.good luck and take care doc
