Felon Charged, but Wants to Go to Drug Court?
Question by Angel Stokes: Felon charged, but wants to go to Drug Court?
Please don’t judge, just answer… 🙁
We live in Kentucky.
My husband broke probation, it was a charge that he took for his ex, because of their kids.. and it was drug related.
When we met, he changed his phone number, quit doing drugs, etc.
Anyhow, my husband is an idiot. And, His old friends started getting his number… and long story short. He is now in jail for xanax and (Possible) theft. He had taken 95 xanax in one week. And doesn’t remember much at all.
Let’s give him the benefit of a doubt here. He regrets what he did (because of our family, not because he’s stuck in jail) and truly wants to change.
He wants to go to Drug Court… Because it is harder to pass than rehab. And, it is for people who need (and are willing to get) help.
He wants help, period. But what are his chances of getting drug court, with the theft charges, if he is convicted? The Drug Court program last 18-24 months.
Also, I’m wondering about the Persistent Felony Offender. (IF) Granted AND Passed Drug Court, can he avoid the PFO?
Thank you all… Even a few answers would be helpful.
Please… I’m scared.
Also, there was no weapon involved.
He wants to get his GED. He may be starting on that now, not sure. And, he wants to attend college when he gets out. IF he gets out, he wants the Judge to make it a violation if he doesn’t go to college. (Can/Would the judge do that)

i work at a county jail if he took 95 xanax in one week and he has theft charges depending on what he stole and what he is on probation for before depends on what the judge will want to do with him the can send him to rehab for the drug abuse or they can sentence him to do time in jail or prison it depends on the judge and what kind if record he had before this incident depends on what he gets i dont see them taking it to drug court
